After seven years working as a mechanic, Mat decided to set up his own workshop and thus started Tumut Exhaust & Brake (MVRL59252) back in 2000. Just around the corner from Repco Parts Store Tumut and up the road from the local church, Tumut Exhaust & Brake is located between Pidsley Brothers Marine & Power Products and Amaroo Motels. 

Tumut Exhaust & Brake specialises in Exhaust Fitment and Repairs, Child Restraints, Brake Service, Wheel Alignments and Balancing for Diesels, Four Wheel Drives (4WD), Passenger Cars and Light Trucks. Our car service provides also Auto Electrical Services, Engine Reconditioning, Transmission Service and other mechanical repairs, including:

An RTA authorised car inspection station for Blue Slip and Pink Slip Roadworthy Certificates (RWC), Tumut Exhaust & Brake is authorised to inspect taxi-cabs as well. Out of hours car service can be arranged by appointment, we can pick up and deliver your car back after repairs. 

Until commencement of Road Safety Officer position Tumut Shire never had an authorised restraint fitting station. This meant that people who wished to have a child restraint fitted had to travel to Wagga Wagga.

In 2002, Tumut Exhaust & Brake Centre was trained as an authorised restraint fitting station. Since the implementation of the authorised restraint fitting station Tumut Shire council conducts regular campaigns raising awareness of the importance of having child restraints fitted correctly.

Information packs have been developed advertising the restraint fitting stations and the importance of correctly fitted restraints. This material has been distributed to child care centres, hospitals, preschools, and is available at the authorised restraint fitting station Tumut Exhaust & Brake.

Tumut Exhaust & Brake are an Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Scheme (AUVIS) Inspection Station in Tumut, meaning we are certified to provide (AUVIS) Inspections, or “Blue Slips” as they are commonly known.

A Blue Slip Inspection report verifies the safety of an unregistered vehicle, while making sure it meets design and identity standards. This includes vehicles where registration has expired or for inspections of vehicles before purchase

A Blue Slip is essentially a Roadworthy & Safety Inspection report for unregistered vehicles and is required prior to registering a vehicle in NSW that is either unregistered or does not have NSW license plates (i.e. – vehicles bought interstate or overseas for use in NSW).
